Family Week is all about celebrating family and building community. Being a part of Family Week is easy as inviting some friends, family or your neighbours over for a relaxed BBQ. Or organising for those in your work place to enjoy a family picnic together. From school fetes to a “Come to the Table” Event for students and their families to attend Family Week is a great way to build community.
Many Early Childhood Centres use Family Week as a great opportunity to celebrate the families within their community; family photos are a great way to celebrate and share together.
Family Week also recognises that every generation has a part in building community. For many people as they age life can be isolating. Helping a neighbour, inviting them over for a cup of tea or lending a hand can make such a difference and build that sense of community. For one College they purposed to “Tell the Story” of some of the residents in an Aged Care Facility. After interviewing & recording the resident's story the students then made a special presentation to the families concerned. The result was quite special, thought provoking and for some of the boys, life-changing.
Family Week recognises that strong families build strong communities.
To be a part of Family Week all you need to do is register your event.
